Friedrich Rometsch was an employee of the famous Berlin coachbuilder Erdmann & Rossi, who founded his own coachbuilding business in 1924. He is best known for his Volkswagen-based creations from the 1950s and early 1960s.The two-door Lawrence model was an aluminum body developed by Rometsch himself, based on VW Beetle chassis.
Named after its designer, the car was produced as a coupe and convertible and won several awards at the Geneva Motor Show. The new price was about the same as that of a well-equipped Porsche 356.
